What is cyber security?
A great way to understand what cyber is all about is to consider the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF), a structure that many companies and organizations use to plan & operate their cyber programs. NIST CSF has five components, each with a number of sub-activities:
- Identify - Develop an organizational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to systems, people, assets, data, and capabilities.
- Protect - Develop and implement appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of critical services.
- Detect - Develop and implement appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event.
- Respond - Develop and implement appropriate activities to take action regarding a detected cybersecurity incident.
- Recover - Develop and implement appropriate activities to maintain plans for resilience and to restore any capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cybersecurity incident.
If these sound interesting to you, read on for how to get involved!

- Our team will download virtual machines of different operating systems and will have a limited amount of time to identify & remediate security vulnerabilities.
- Registration in 2022 closes on October 5, so if you are interested please let SM Purcell & Capt Pedone as soon as possible!
